The next day, Ed was told Doug Bouch was indicted by a grand jury. It would be the only detail prosecutors would share with the widower until later that month.

On August 29, 2011 the Portage County Court of Common Pleas unsealed and delivered the warrant for Douglas S. Bouch to the sheriff’s department. It was the day the criminal case against the truck driver would go public, and at 6:40 a.m., the warrant was served, and Bouch was arrested.

Later that afternoon, Bouch appeared before the court clerk, signing an agreement to be released as long as he complied with the court in the case against him. Otherwise, he faced a $50,000 bail, a hefty price to pay for what would end up being his last five months of freedom.
