People don’t want to know about the things I write about. It’s too hard, because to accept it would mean rethinking all their views and all their lives . . . They read it, but they don’t want to think about what they’ve read. There’s no real protest in this society any more. Society says, ‘Don’t worry, Mr Putin, it’ll all go away.’
