Heaven

Every relative in my heavenly mansion is watching the proceedings intently. Their spiritual eyes affixed to their relatives. Expectation and hope filled the room.

When a person is saved on Jupiter, all heaven rejoices. A herald appears, and a picture of the person is flashed across the sky. The entire throng of witnesses erupt in applause and cheering. We all stared at the sky with tremendous anticipation.

The first picture appeared. Taylor Hall. The prostitute who her husband had saved. Her grandparents squealed with delight. Carter, her husband’s picture appeared next as the room erupted in applause, and thanks to God permeated the room. God had not only saved their marriage; he had now saved their souls for an eternity.

Dr. King and his wife Olivia were next. Joshua, their son, stood to his feet with his hands in the air, praising Jesus and shouting Hallelujahs. Even though he was seized from the womb and never knew them on the earth, he knew them in heaven, and now he would spend an eternity with his parents.

Pastor Randy and Cindy were on the edge of their seats, faith exuding through every fiber of their spiritual being. I could see the pride in their eyes as their son Tom had a part in sharing the gospel with the people, testifying to his own shortcoming in not truly believing in his heart. When his picture appeared in the sky, they flew into each other’s arms. They danced around with all their might, their arms clenched together, huge smiles of joy on their faces. We all rejoiced with them.

“Yes!” I heard Kate say in her soft, childlike voice. I’d looked away from the sky momentarily to watch Randy and Cindy rejoice their son’s salvation and hadn’t seen Ruth’s picture flash across the sky. Ruth would be reunited with her baby soon. And her husband Jake and father-in-law Carl. They would all be reunited someday.

Naomi’s picture appeared next. The reunion would be glorious.

Aria Decker was saved. The government cabinet official who had rebutted the soldier’s efforts to shut down the assembly. I was so thankful she’d been there. Certainly, God’s providence led her there today, for that moment and time. Not only for her benefit, but for everyone who had attended.

A short pause in the pictures. Then a shout from the heralds. Trumpets. Loud cymbals were playing as Danni’s picture appeared. Nancy, Todd, and Avery erupted in adulation. I just slumped back in my chair. My girl was saved. All I had wanted for all my children was for them to know Jesus. Now they all did. I would see her again.

The heralds left. They were done.

Mrs. Pinkerton.

What about her? Her face hadn’t appeared in the sky. I saw her lips moving as she said the prayer with the others.

Yet, she was the only one in the room who wasn’t saved.
