Calzain looked a little embarrassed. "No, I was wrong to have hurt you first. That's why I was probably scared of you... I should be the one apologizing," he said.

"No, really, I'm fine with it," I replied, not wanting to start a back-and-forth apology.

Calzain sighed and said, "Okay, I'll accept your apology if it makes you feel better."

I breathed a sigh of relief and continued, "Also... I wanted to thank you for protecting me from Refkors in Beaux and helping me at the recent dinner party. But, I don't know what the etiquette is for giving thanks in this world... I mean, I made cookies for Saera as a thank you once, but I'm not sure if that's enough for nobles," I said, feeling a little lost.
