What You Can Do
Start by telling your friends what has happened, and let them pass on the news. This is the easiest and most painless way. If your friends aren’t close by, use the phone, or, better yet, send them e-mail messages. (You can write one message and address it to all of your friends.) Keep them informed on what is going on: funeral arrangements, feelings you are having, and what they can do for you. If you feel your teachers do not know, either tell them yourself or ask a parent to help out. Sometimes just telling your school counselor is all you have to do. Ask him or her to relay the information to all of your teachers. Getting this information out will help pave the way for your reentry into the school world.
