Having been given a clean bill of mental health, Kemper drove away and buried Koo’s remains near Boulder Creek. Then he lay low for a while, fueling his fantasies with the sickening photographs he’d taken of his three victims. But the pressure soon began to build, and before long he began hunting for another victim.

On January 7, 1973, Kemper offered a ride to a pretty, 19-year-old student, named Cindy Schall. He drove her to a secluded spot where he produced a .22 pistol and shot her in the head. By now, Kemper was again living with his mother, so he drove back to her house, where he dismembered Schall’s body in the bathtub. He kept the remains in his room overnight, before burying the head in the backyard and later throwing the body parts over a cliff. They quickly washed up on a beach, but no one suspected Kemper. He was free to kill again.
