After the four-day event, my family and I enjoyed the remaining three days in Vegas at the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and did a little more touring. It was a great trip!

One month passed, and I was invited back to Zappos for another event! This time I traveled alone. The speakers for this event were Katie Butler of Nine West and the legendary Donald Pliner! Now as I mentioned to you earlier, I met Katie Butler in NY, and here it is six months later, I get to cross paths with her again across the states! I booked my flight and headed back to Vegas to meet a whole new group of entrepreneurs!

The event was like a footwear festival. Zappos had every shoe company that sells on their website at the campus with tables set up to sell and take orders. It was awesome, as you were able to see what was being sold for the upcoming season.

We were provided food truck tickets for free lunch, and each brand had giveaways for the staff, employees, and guests. Once again, we were housed in one of Tony Hseih’s condominium properties. Zappos purchased the former City Hall area of Las Vegas, and they turned the area into a Zappos Campus and housing area for employees and guest. It is truly an amazing sight to see. An important note: Make sure to book a tour of Zappos when you visit Las Vegas. You will truly be inspired.

On the day of the shoe event, I was able to tour every table and learn more about the industry. Lunchtime approached, and I set out to use the free lunch ticket at the taco truck. I ordered my food and proceeded to find a seat in the courtyard. You know how you get that funny feeling someone is watching you? Well, I sat down and took a bite of my taco, and then I heard someone say my name! Premise? I looked up, and standing over me was Katie Butler, the President of Nine West!

She literally said, and I quote, “I thought that was you! I followed you from the food truck.” I explained how Tony Hseih’s team had invited me back for this event especially because it pertains to footwear. She was eager to know what had taken place with the meeting months prior with Yellow Box (since she was the one who initiated the introduction). I explained their disinterest, and she was a little confused. In her mind, she thought we could be the perfect team. I guess Yellow Box thought differently. However, I did notice, their next year design had a little more bling than before, hmm.
