CHAPTER 12

Liam ignored Daniel, turning to Alastair Stark instead. “What is this guy talking about? How can he be my supervisor?! He's a newbie, he's not even a part of our organization, what does he know about us, about the way we function, the hierarchy and everything!”

Alastair gave him a crooked smile. “He has a name and I suggest you use it when you speak to or about him. Either that or Supervisor Fenelli. You are right, Daniel here doesn't know anything about Dragons' House and its internal organization but he will learn. I will teach him myself.”

It was Daniel's turn to be surprised by Alastair's words, but he didn't show it. Instead, he spoke to Liam. “So, little buddy, I guess the dice have been cast, as they used to say in ancient Rome. It seems you are stuck with me, because, from now on, while we are at work, we will eat together, sit together, use the bathroom together.”

Tears of frustration formed in Liam's eyes, threatening to spill. With this motherfucker on his back, his cleverly designed plan would go down the drain and he couldn't allow that to happen. It was time for a little whiny confrontation, just enough for Alastair to become guilt-ridden. It worked before, why wouldn't it work now?

“It's all because of my mother, isn't it, great-uncle? Do you still hate her so much even now, so long after her death? You took everything away from her, you threw her in prison and you are still not satisfied?”
