Leanne greeted them as they returned to the precinct. Boyd could tell from the crinkles in her usual smile that she had something to share. ‘You do know what they used to do to the bearer of bad news in the old days?’ he asked her.

‘Well, you would know, boss,’ she countered with a smirk.

He winced at the blow. ‘Just out with it.’

‘I know you two old geezers aren’t the greatest when it comes to technology, so I thought I’d alert you to the fact that there has been a posting on The Alliance’s website.’

‘There’s thousands of them,’ said Jiffy.

‘This one is from them directly.’

‘What does it say?’ asked Boyd.

‘Nothing much. States a date and a time.’

‘That’s it?’

Leanne glanced at her cell phone. ‘Yep. Tomorrow night eight p.m. ET. Stay tuned.’
