Epilogue

JUST AS ZEKE had wanted, they had gotten married in a week. With Summer’s help she was able to pull it off and had used the TCC’s clubhouse. It was a small wedding with just family and friends. Brad had been Zeke’s best man and Summer had been her maid of honor. And her new friend, Abigail Langley, had helped her pick out her dress. It was a beautiful above-the-knee eggshell-colored lace dress. And from the way Zeke had looked at her when she’d walked down the aisle, she could tell he had liked how she looked in it.

As nothing in Royal could ever be kept quiet, there had been mention of the wedding and small reception to be held at the TCC in the local papers. The story had been picked up by the national news wires as a follow-up to the stories about Zeke’s heroics in the Miguel Rivera arrest.

Apparently, news of the wedding had reached as far as Houston and Atlanta.

Cassie had arrived with her short Texan in tow, and Sheila could tell she was trying real hard to hook him in as husband number six. Even Lois had surprised her by showing up with her family. It seemed Ted intended to take advantage of the fact Zeke was now his brother-in-law.

Then there were the Traverses. Lois’s mouth dropped when she found out Zeke was one of “those” Travers. But she was smart enough not to ask Sheila for any favors. Sunnie was there dressed in a pretty, pink ruffled dress and it was quite obvious that Brad was quite taken with his niece. Sheila was Sunnie’s godmother and Zeke was her godfather.

“I can’t get over how much you and your siblings look alike,” she whispered to Zeke, glancing around. “And your father is a handsome man, as well.”

Zeke threw his head back and laughed. “I’ll make sure to tell him you think so.”

He glanced across the room and saw Brad talking to Abigail. They sure seem a lot friendlier these days, and he wondered if the truce would last when the election for president of the TCC started back up again. But for now they seemed seen to have forgotten they were opponents.

He glanced back at his wife, knowing he was a very lucky man. And they had decided to start working on a family right away. And he was looking forward to making it happen. “We’ll be leaving in a little while. You ready?”

“Yes.” Sheila smiled as she glanced over at Sunnie, who was getting a lot of attention from everyone. She appreciated the time she had spent with the baby.

“What are you smiling about?” Zeke leaned down to ask her.

Sheila glanced back at her husband. “You, this whole day, our honeymoon, the rest of our lives together…the list is endless, need I go on?”

Zeke shook his head. “No need. I know how you feel because I feel the same way.”

And he meant it. She was everything he’d ever wanted in a woman. She would be his lover, his best friend and his confidante.
