After the lamb dinner, which was incredible, and two bottles of wine between us, Ash led me through another set of doors at the back of the lobby. We came onto an outdoor seating area which looked over the harbor, and I was taken on a short walk to one of several jetties.

The walkway bobbed up and down on the water, and I enjoyed the gentle splashing sounds around me. It wasn’t the steadiest surface to walk along, however, and when I momentarily lost my footing, Ash caught my arm and linked it in hers. Then she walked with me the rest of the way to the yacht.

It was a massive, sleek white thing which floated peacefully alongside the platform, taking up most of its length.

I was taken to a small set of steps where I had to negotiate the narrow rungs to get up to the deck. It was a bit of an effort, but I could hardly complain when Ash managed it in her long evening dress and heels. She lifted the hem up to nearly the top of her thigh to get her first foothold, and my heart skipped a beat.

The deck itself was large, and I noticed a single table which had been laid and decorated with lit candles. There were also several decorative lanterns which had been strung overhead, and they gave enough light to see by without ruining the atmosphere.

A large plate with a domed stainless steel cover was on the center of the table and, after sitting down, Ash put her hand on it and grinned.

“I told them to surprise us, so I actually have no idea what’s under here,” she said.

“Well, I’m glad to know there’s some mystery in this for you, too,” I said, grinning.

She lifted the cover away, revealing a beautifully decorated white chocolate and raspberry cheese cake.

“That looks incredible,” I said.

Ash looked around. “It seems we are missing something to cut it with,” she said. “One sec.”

“Actually,” I said, standing up. “Is there a bathroom I could use?”

“Of course,” Ash said. “Come through.”

I followed her to the back of the deck and she slid open a glass door into what looked like the kitchen.

“I think the bathroom is down that way and to the right,” Ash said, flicking on a light and pointing down the corridor. I thanked her and headed in the direction she indicated as I heard her open a drawer and began rummaging through it. I was feeling quite tipsy from the wine, though the yacht was far more stable than the jetty had been. I ran a hand along the wall as I went, then stopped at the first door I came to. It opened into a dark bedroom, but the light from the corridor shone through onto another door at the back. Hoping it was the en-suite, I made my way towards it and was relieved to find what I was looking for.

When my business was concluded, I opened the bathroom door, but rather than walking back to the corridor, I stopped and stared.
