Fancii pulled the truck in front of Mills as he was on the phone with the local authorities. She slammed on the brakes and opened the passenger’s door. “Baby, it was that dumb-ass nigga Noodles. He trying to get me back.”

Mills got into the truck and slammed the door. He reached across the aisle and slapped her so hard that she spit across the windshield. He grabbed her by the neck and flung her to the floor, slapping her over and over. “I’m. Tired. Of. You. Playin’. These. Games. Wit’. Me. You. And. That. Nigga.” Blow after blow after blow, he attacked her until his arm got tired. He got off of her and kneed her in the rib, cracking it. “Get yo’ ass up and get in the back seat. I should have left you in the hood. There’s where you wanna go back to, huh?”

Fancii struggled to get up. “No, please.” She was out of breath. She forced herself up and into the backseat. She climbed on it and laid out straight. Blood dripped from her lip. “I’m sorry, Mills. Please, baby. I’m so, so sorry.” She held her ribs and prayed that they weren’t broken. She had to find a way to make him feel better. She couldn’t lose him. He was her ticket into high society. She couldn’t return to the ghetto, she just couldn’t.

Mills pulled out of the gas station. “That nigga say anything about me, huh?”

Fancii wiped the blood from her mouth. “No, he just wanted me back. He said…” She hugged herself as a sharp pain shot through her ribs. “Owww, Mills, you gotta take me to the hospital. I think you broke my ribs, baby.” She fell back to the floor holding her ribs, taking short breaths that pained her with every inhale and exhale.

Mills waved her off and got behind the steering wheel. “You deal wit’ that, Fancii. That’s your fault. That should teach you a lesson. From here on out, I don’t want you dealing with Noodles or nobody from Crenshaw ever again. The next time I find out that you are, all of the gigs that you’ve booked on my account will be stopped, and contracts will be severed. You need to get it through your head that you are nothing without me. Noodles can’t offer you shit!” he spat, still pissed at the entire event. He didn’t know what type of game that she and Noodles were playing, but he didn’t have time for it. He’d become addicted to Fancii, and he wanted her all to himself. He knew that she still had some form of addiction to Noodles and he wanted to break it so bad.

Fancii climbed to the back seat and winced in terrible pain. Anytime she bent to the right in the slightest, a mind-numbing pain shot up her right side. Tears ran down her cheeks. “Please take me to the hospital, baby. I beg of you.” She slumped all the way to the floor of the vehicle and curled into a ball.
