CHAPTER FOUR

Divine Numbers

The first thing to do is to introduce the reader to a most compelling piece of evidence. This is the Stukeley sketch of Stonehenge supporting the divine number proposal. William Stukeley’s book is in the exhibition at Stonehenge. It is a masterpiece. One day perhaps Professor Thom’s three masterpieces will be there as well. To disclose the source of the evidence it is necessary to introduce the leading authority on stone circles, Aubrey Burl. He wrote a book published in 2006 titled A Brief History of Stonehenge and in this book figure 28 on page 264 shows the Stukeley sketch that provides relevant, reliable evidence that there were dual outer circles at Stonehenge. Not only that, if the stones in the sketch are extrapolated based on just over one quarter of a circle that is visible in the book within 90 degrees there are 13 outer and 14 inner stones, this produces outer 52 and inner 56 stones in total. It is evidence that the divine numbers 4 times 13, and 2 times 4 times 7 have been designed into the dual circles as stage one of the monument representing the Earth and the Moon. Stukeley’s observations also provided the spark of light and inspiration for the third and final book in the series.

The divine number proposal arose following the assumption that the reason these people were studying the Sun, Moon and stars was because they were looking for proof that the Creator was behind the heavenly design, that none of it was by chance. Virtually every day of their lives they must have been filled with awe and wonder at what they saw all around them on the Earth and in the heavens. They did not have any points of reference, no books and possibly no records, but being the highly intelligent and creative people they obviously were, they wanted answers. Imagining the world they lived in, Professor Thom has confirmed that the atmosphere was much clearer than it is today. If we look at page 73 of Megalithic Lunar Observatories the professor confirms a sightline from Fishguard, 91 miles away in Ireland at Mount Leinster commenting that the atmosphere was clearer in Megalithic times than it is today. This is so typical of what can be found in his books, he takes it in his stride without any thought that what he is saying might be impossible. It is actually a jaw-dropping statement that they would be using such a sightline, or perhaps it isn’t? Anyway, reading through the book it is clear what these people were all about, numbers, and loads of them. But looking at all the numbers they must have had a context to review them against. They had an obsession with integers so it is really easy to determine which numbers could be construed as divine and why they would be considered so.

So looking for explanations as to why they were obsessed with integer numbers this divine number proposal has been developed. It is based on simple common sense and on their natural curiosity.
