“Oh my God, Kyra. You look beautiful,” I admired her as she stepped out of the dressing room. The lace mermaid style gown hugged her curves and her baby bump perfectly. The white fabric made her dark brown skin look even more radiant than usual.

“I agree,” her best friend Nikki said. “Mustafa better cry when he sees you walk down that isle.”

“You guys think so? I feel so fat.” Kyra stood on the platform facing the full body mirror. We were in Pronovias on South Beach. It was a luxurious bridal shop. It looked like a palace in here. Everything was ivory and all accents were silver, or diamond encrusted. There wasn’t a dress in here that costed less that fifteen thousand dollars.

“Are you kidding? Even at almost six months pregnant, you’re gonna be a gorgeous bride,” Nikki assured her as she bent down to fan out the train on the dress.

“Exactly. I hope I look as good when it’s my turn,” I said.

“You and Sef are next. Y’all have been through everything together. If you can make it this far, I’m sure y’all are gonna last,” Kyra attempted to assure me. “I’ll make sure to throw you the bouquet,” she winked.

Little did she know, Sef and I were far from being on our way to marriage. After he found me with Demetrius, he took me to a hotel where me and Sef Jr. stayed for a few days. He had a guard there with us the entire time. I guess, in case I tried to leave, although it wasn’t my plan. I knew he was trying to figure out what to do with me. Lucky for me, he loved me, or I might have been dead by now.

Eventually, he took us back to my house and he had been staying there with us for the last few weeks. We barely spoke if it wasn’t about Sef Jr. and he was sleeping in his son’s room with him, but I wasn’t complaining. He came home every night and even gave me some dick once in a blue moon even though he couldn’t look at me. If you ask me, we were on our way back to normal, but not quite there yet.

“Okay. It fits perfect. Hopefully this baby doesn’t grow too much between now and next weekend,” Gina the associate said as she finished buttoning the back of the dress up.

“Hopefully not. I cannot believe I’m getting married in a week.”

“Neither can I,” Nikki mumbled. Although everyone heard her snide comment, Kyra didn’t. respond, but the mood had noticeably changed. She changed out of her dress and had it wrapped up for transport while Nikki and I tried our bridesmaids’ dresses on. I was looking good in the plum satin gown and I couldn’t wait to see Sef in his matching tuxedo. Maybe the entire evening would inspire him.

Since I had picked both girls up on our way to our final try on, the three of us got in my truck to head back home.
