-... . .-.. .. . ...- . .-.

BELIEVER

“Holy shit! It’s her!” Aster said. “That’s her song!”

“We don’t know that for sure,” Noel cautioned. “Whoever is posing as her could have also read the same article.”

“But why? I mean, what do they have to gain?”

“Who knows? They’re saying they have critical cargo. Maybe they’re hoping that will get the military’s attention or something.”

Aster nodded, as if considering the idea. But at the same time, Noel was coming around to Aster’s side of things. Pretending to be from the station, one of the few people to have been in space when the object appeared, was a pretty good ploy to get NASA’s attention—but it was also a simple bubble to pop. If the guy got far enough to get a response from the bigwigs, all NASA had to do was ask this person a few very specific questions that only the commander of the ISS would know. If the guy couldn’t answer, the jig would be up. So why do it?

Noel and Aster debated this for a few minutes, Aster drinking from the half-full part of the theory while Noel sipped from the half-empty portion. Meanwhile the word confirm kept being broadcast by the mystery sender. When it was sent for the fifth time, Noel and Aster came to a decision.

They decided to keep talking.
