The place was modern and trendy, with excellent service, Isabella noted as she was seated at the bar. She loved watching the sushi chefs work and although they were working with “only vegan ingredients,” as the waitress had assured her, Isabella was not particularly strict about diets, nor did she boycott leather (though she had significantly reduced the amount she bought and had stopped buying fur completely). The honest truth was that Ida and her daughter Maria had come to stay with her for the summer, now five years ago, and they were both obsessed with vegetarian food. It had kind of stuck since then, although she still indulged in traditional sushi on her birthday. Always alone.

She had been impressed with how much vegetarian food had evolved in the years she’d been eating it, even five years ago an all-vegan sushi restaurant would have been unheard of. She ordered some edamame beans, and a house platter of mixed “fish” and a bottle of warm sake and prepared to enjoy her feast.

With a few pages left in Orlando and another book stuffed in her purse, she had plenty to keep her entertained. Reading fast, with her concentration fixed on the book, she barely noticed people occasionally walking up to the bar around her to order drinks. A voice caught her attention, however, causing her to abandon her book and look in the direction it was coming from.

“Is there any chance you can mix this cocktail called Climax? I have all the ingredients listed here,” said a young boy in his 20s, auburn hair, grey eyes, chiseled cheekbones. He reminded her so much of Austin in his mannerisms and the way he looked.

Perplexed, Isabella thought, No, I must be imagining things, and checked how much she’d had of the Sake. She tried to return to her book but the boy’s voice and negotiation with the bartender kept her attention.

“Sir, I’ll see what I can do, but it’s not on our menu. Why don’t you see if there’s another cocktail you’d like?” said the bartender hopefully.

“It’s not for me, it’s for my sister,” replied the boy. “She’s a bartender and they’ve just added it to the menu at her place, but she’s never had one made for her,” he explained.

No way! thought Isabella. This is insane. Was Austin here? Would she think she’d stalked her? She felt a panic rise in her throat as she scanned the room. An old panic she had not felt for many years. Austin was there. She was sitting a few tables away with her back to Isabella. This boy who looked so much like her must be her brother. Maybe Isabella could finish her meal quickly and sneak out unnoticed so she didn’t look like a stalker?

Nope, no chance of that. The figure who was definitely Austin was now walking to the bar. She would see her. Isabella breathed in deeply. She told herself not to be stupid. It’s a popular restaurant close to the hotel and an obvious choice if one is looking for veggie food.
