He lay with his back against Aldren’s broad chest, his hands covering Aldren’s as they laid on his chest, Aldren’s arms wrapped tight around him. An overwhelming sense of peace, being loved and protected surfaced in his soul and he let Aldren take his full weight, giving in, trusting his man to simply hold him and look after him.

He hadn’t realized he’d been dozing until a sponge was slowly traced over his body. “Hey.” His voice was soft, not wanting to break the peace surrounding them.

“Welcome back, have a nice nap?” Aldren teased.

“Sorry, I was exhausted. Still am a little.”

“I loved having you here in my arms, no one with us, no dragons, no friends, no work, just us. No Rider and Prince, just Eli and Aldren. That’s what I want you know, when we’re at home, together, like this, it’s just you and me. I don’t want to ever think of you as my prince, and I don’t want you to think of me as a Rider. I know we’re those things, but here when it’s just us, I want it to be just us.”

Eli smiled, even if Aldren couldn’t see it as he lay behind him. “That’s exactly what I want.” He sobered up. “I have a confession.”

“I’m not going to like this, am I?” Aldren squeezed him tighter.

“I don’t know.” Eli bit his bottom lip. Rather than postpone the moment, he recited everything Tagondir had told him, not about being the Seeker, but about Aldren being his bond mate.

“How could he possibly know?” Aldren looked dumbfounded.

“I have no idea.”

“Why didn’t you say something sooner?” Aldren tipped Eli’s head back and to the side so he was looking into his eyes.

“You know why.” Eli held his gaze for a moment before looking away.

“No, I really don’t. You’re going to need to explain it to me.” Aldren pushed.

“Because I had no idea how you felt. I wanted to know you wanted me, Eli, not the part of me that’s the prince, the part of me that’s this Seeker.”

Aldren hauled him up and over so they were lying chest to chest. Eli groaned when their cocks rubbed together. When Aldren wrapped his legs around Eli’s, pinning him in place, he whimpered at the feel of Aldren hardening underneath him. A gentle tap to his ass startled him.

“Playing comes later.” Aldren used one hand to guide Eli’s face so they were looking each other in the eyes. “Look at me, E, look into my eyes while I say this.”

Aldren must have been waiting for a response, because it wasn’t until he nodded that Aldren spoke again. “I really don’t care that you are a prince. If anything, I would rather you weren’t. I keep hoping that everyone will somehow magically forget that part of who you are. I don’t want to keep being summoned to the palace for dinners, to greet the latest delegation from who knows where. I don’t want to have to dress in courtly robes. I don’t want to sit and endure formal dinners at the whim of the regal advisors.
