Raysha stalked through the city.

She crossed the huge bridge spanning the Ichabzi, then marched south down the riverside walk, her staff clacking against the stone pavers with every other step. She didn’t even glance at the vendors trying to entice her to have some food, try a sip of a drink, or look at sparkly trash that masqueraded as jewellery.

During these moments, she stoked her anger. She caressed it, fed it her memories of Miskar assaulting the bandits, of him drawing a hail of attacks down on all of their heads, and felt it grow from the ever-present smouldering ember into a roaring bonfire ready to consume the object of her ire.

Finally, she reached the Hall of Lapping Tide and the small public square beside it. She ignored it. Where are—

In a moment of déjà vu, her initial arrival to Ashanti repeated itself. She spotted Pavad sitting by himself at the same inn as last time. A few other people were seated on the patio with him, but it was well before the evening rush, so the place wasn’t too crowded. Pavad saw her and paled. Then—thank the gods her luck had improved—Miskar rejoined him at the table. Raysha started forming her Silver Shroud and let Xora know to just spectate whatever happened next.

She watched Pavad tap the scion’s forearm frantically and then gestured out to where Raysha was standing. Miskar waved before taking a slow sip from his cup. Raysha’s eye twitched, and a golden arc of lightning leapt from her hand to the ground before she could control it. Aeon thrummed in her body.

When Miskar showed zero sign of moving off his ass, Raysha stormed up the steps in front of the business, headed right to his table, slammed her hands down on one side of it, and leaned forward so her face was level with his.

“Get. Up,” she snarled.

“Why? The view here is quite nice.” Miskar smirked, and his eyes flickered down to her cleavage. Raysha saw white, and before she realised it, had driven her fist into the scion’s face. His cup smashed on the floorboards, and Raysha heard shouts from the other patrons as they scrambled out of the way.

Miskar was reeling back, stunned. He hadn’t even formed his Dragonshell and just trusted Raysha wouldn’t cause a public incident. What an idiot.

Before Miskar could recover himself, Raysha punched him again. This time, the lightning in her fist blasted the man straight into the ground, causing his chair to practically explode into firewood. Pavad backed away with his hands up. Smart.

Raysha grabbed the lapels of Miskar’s uniform and threw him over the railing. She’d forgotten she still had Strength integration active, so the man flew even farther through the air than she’d expected. Then, Miskar crashed into the pavers of the emptying square, skidding along them until he slammed into the few posts lining the edge of the walkway by the river.

She jumped to the square, took her staff back into both hands, and cracked her neck to either side as she closed the distance.
