BY THE TIME MY DAD pulls back toward the barn, my head is swimming. I barely speak as Ranger and a couple of the farmhands finish loading up the trailer in record time.

It’s nearly noon. Dad got a ride into town and a loaner truck from the body shop, then headed here to pick me up along with the rest of the hay. When I woke this morning, to the sound of the rooster crowing and the mouthwatering scent of bacon, I found my dress and panties freshly laundered and laid out on the foot of the bed. I dressed, not sure how he found the time to wash and dry my clothes, then followed the smell of food to find Ranger cooking me a proper country breakfast.

I can still feel him inside me, even now. Not surprising, since he spent the better part of the night there, fucking me into another dimension.

A fresh blush rises on my cheeks as I glance down and notice the clear outline of an erection still filling the front of those faded jeans. The thought that I put it there, that this cowboy is thinking about me and getting hard and ready, is like some dream, except it’s my reality. I look away, embarrassed not by the sex but by my own need for this connection. My dad is making small talk with a couple of the guys as they tie down the load, and a cool breeze whips my hair around my shoulders. So different now, after the storm. So calm.

“Ready?” Dad calls to me, and I watch Ranger’s lips tighten.

I force a smile. “Yep.”

I don’t want to go. I look back toward the white farmhouse where Ranger made love to me all night and feel a sense of loss that I’m leaving.

It makes no sense to break that spell, but it’s going to happen, whether I like it or not.

Ranger steps forward and speaks to my father in a low voice. I watch as my dad looks up at him with a drawn brow. Ranger’s hands go down into his front pockets, and I chuckle under my breath at how he shifts uncomfortably.

After a moment, my father nods, and Ranger offers his hand. They shake firmly, my dad’s eyes darting to me, then back to Ranger.

Dad shoots me a quick smile as he opens the driver’s side door and hops into the truck, leaving me standing confused as Ranger steps my way, stopping only inches from me with his hands coming to cup my cheeks.

“See you for dinner, Little Bit.” Ranger’s voice sends chills down the backs of my legs.

“I have to work...”

With that, his lips are on mine. His tongue moves slowly, leisurely, and my thoughts about my dad seeing us kiss evaporate on a gust of country wind.

“I said, see you for dinner.”
