Chapter 10

April 30,1913

The trip to Tybee Island did my head and heart a world of good. Savannah really was a lovely town, but I think being away from Roser Park in general lifted my spirits. Perhaps I can encourage George to move his practice there once we are married. The squares, parks and waterfront are quite charming though many people claim the town to be haunted as well. Ghosts are everywhere I suppose.

Mother caught wind of my plan to visit the psychic downtown. She’s bringing Father Michael here this weekend instead to talk some sense into me. I think that she’s been reading my entries here, Dear Diary. I’ll have to find a new hiding spot for you.

Martin is nearly finished with my portrait, or so he says. I don’t care to ever see the blasted thing or him ever again. I can’t imagine that my expression is all that pleasant, I was in such pain and distress for all my sittings. I can’t help but feel that this house, or rather something in it, is to blame.

I haven’t seen the woman in the window since I’ve been home. Perhaps that’s a good thing. If I should see her again, I won’t let myself be frozen in fright. This time I swear I’ll communicate with her once and for all.
