Balor holed up in his quarters and refused to come out. He claimed he didn't feel well, and Dr. Dion thought he should look in on him. Nuada chuckled.

"No. I suspect he's just licking his wounds. I had a little talk with Alliria about Balor's access to the ship. She probably gave him a bit of a cold shoulder."

Dion grinned. "Good for you! I'm sure it was a pleasant little discussion. How is Alliria today?"

"She's happier than I've seen her since coming on board. Perhaps she just needed a hand of authority. I don't believe she's had much of that."

"How about Cree? The last time she traveled to Silusia was pretty intense for her."

"Zirna seems to have lifted the doom and gloom off of Cree's shoulders. Both women have been giggling like teenagers. It's good to see it, too."

"And Almu? How is that going, with two wives on board?"

"Neither shares my bed permanently. They have their own quarters and right now, Cree is keeping Zirna busy. Almu has taken advantage of the distraction."

Both men grinned. "If this works out, you are one lucky man!" Dion said.

"If it works out…" Nuada raised an eyebrow and tilted his head. "I look forward to the possibilities."

Dion wasn't the only person to worry about Balor's sudden seclusion. Bress thought it odd as well, and went to visit his father.

"Are you alone?" The mirrored block showed a bloated eye, rotating in all directions as if to check for hidden bogeymen.

"Yes, I'm alone. Can I come in, Balor?"

"Nobody is with you?"

"Moloch's bollocks! I just said I was alone! Let me in!"

The door opened and Balor stuck his head out. He looked up and down the corridor. "Okay, but hurry up!"

"What the hell is wrong with you?"

"I had a nightmare, a bad one, about Gragoll. What do they call it? Pissing trauma something?"

"Post traumatic stress disorder."

"Sounds like pissing trauma to me."

"So that's what all this is about? You had a nightmare? Why can't you just tell people that? Why the big drama?"

"They already think I'm nuts. I don't want them to think I'm more nuts."

"Oh for crying out loud, Balor! You're being ridiculous."

"I need a break, son. Before I really do lose my marbles! I need to get the hell off this ship! Can you get them to drop me off on Earth? NOW?"

"Not now, Balor. We're on our way to Silusia for a payola drop off. Maybe when we get back to the Sol system, although I honestly don't know if they will allow you to go back to Earth. I don't think they trust you that far." Balor's face went pale and Bress took his hand, "I'm sorry, father… truly."

Balor dropped to his knees and clutched Bress's pants. "Please get me off of this ship! Drop me off anywhere — I don't care! But it has to be now!"

"Get the hell up, Balor! How about I post a guard at your door? I'm sure I can make that happen. Would that do for now?"

Balor nodded.
