ELEVEN – SPREAD

In the two days they had been at The Mound, Tom had never seen it so hectic as it was the morning they prepared to leave for the rescue of the four people at Sanctum.

The professor arrived, and his team wasn’t quite the science squad everyone expected. They were young. College kids whose fear was diverted by staying busy.

The professor looked like a science teacher from middle school, but a young man named Zach assured everyone that Grady was an award winning biologist.

Tom wondered how one wins an award in biology.

Clay was supposed to go on the rescue trip with Ella, until Professor Grady and the gang arrived with their bus load of equipment, then it switched up at the last minute.

Tom ended up volunteering to go so Clay could stay back and get everything in order. He wasn’t keen on it, he hated flying in helicopters.

Grady wasted no time pulling out a needle and taking their blood. He wanted to take it right away, Tom didn’t see the point, but he and Ella extended their limb, donated a tube of blood and headed toward the chopper.
