Chapter 12
Broken Vow
“THIS WAY, MY DHAMPIR. WE have to hurry.” Laredo drags me forward before scooping me off my feet at vampire speed. He buries his face in the crook of my neck, inhaling a long breath. Teasing me with his fangs, he grazes them along my collar to yank my shirt to the side to play-lick my skin.
“Laredo!” I screech. “Knock that shit off.”
“You like it,” he says, his deep laugh vibrating over my neck. “Just admit it.”
Pulling away, I narrow my eyes at him. Both of us know I’d never. The second I do, it’s over for me. He might always get his way. “You wish.”
“More than wish. I dream and pray and beg the universe.” He laughs as I crinkle my nose and bites his bottom lip, sending a trickle of blood down his chin.
The bastard. He knows exactly how to get to me. I also love messing with him. There’s always been something exciting about sneaking around behind Grayson’s back to suck on Laredo’s neck. It helps that I have a good time with him. And he’s hot. Charming. It could be worse.
“Be careful. You could lose that lip of yours.” Drawing my tongue over his chin, I lick my way up to his mouth but don’t meet my lips to his. “You know I bite.”
“I look forward to every moment you sink your teeth into me, Gwen. You should know this by now. I’m your perfect blood source. Always ready to give you the world with nothing in return. Your presence is enough.” He touches my cheek, drawing my attention from the blood still dribbling on his chin to his dark eyes. “I hope to continue to prove it to you. Perhaps you’ll let me show you exactly what you’re missing by playing the good little sister to your stubborn, over-protective brothers. They just can’t accept our destiny just yet.”
Warmth blossoms in my cheeks at his words. He sounds so serious. “Ha-ha. You’re so full of shit. You only don’t take anything in return because my brothers give you what you need.”
He cocks an eyebrow. “I’d have to disagree. They don’t...have what I’m looking for. Only you do.”
The world suddenly slows, and I shiver in Laredo’s arms, the wind lifting my hair from my warm neck. He sets me on my feet but keeps his hand locked to my waist. He’ll touch me for as long as I allow him to, always pushing and testing, seeing how far I’ll let him take things...and tonight, I’m in a great mood.
So I kiss him.
Standing on my tiptoes, I graze my lips to his, tasting the sweetness of his blood. His hand slides around my back, and he pulls my hips to his, letting me feel exactly how much I turn him on.
Sucking his bottom lip into my mouth, I nip him again, kissing and sucking to get a better taste. And he lets me. He hums under my fervent mouth, slowly drawing his hand lower to cup my ass.
