A Long Time Ago

Jenna wondered what favor Noah wanted from her.

Well, she suspected she knew some favors he was thinking about. She was likely thinking of the same kind.

But they hadn’t decided to move forward on that front, and this request had sounded different.

Jenna locked up securely behind her and told Zilla she’d be back in a while. The goat didn’t appear to care.

As she rounded the barn, she studied the farmhouse again. She’d dreamed about owning it along with the barn for as long as she’d lived here.

Two stories, dormers, white siding with soft green shutters. A covered porch along the entire front.

The stuff dreams were made of. At least, Jenna’s dream.

A home.

A home for a family.

As she neared, Noah came out on the front porch and waved at her.

She waved back, even though she was almost close enough to talk. His grin widened as she smiled in return.

The man made a sexy picture. Cowboy hat tilted back on his head so she could see his eyes. Long limbs, strong shoulders and body.

Everything about the man matched the home and the farm. He’d found his spot.

His home.

When she reached the bottom of the steps, he reached out a hand to help her up. It made her sigh an internal swoony sigh even as she took his hand.

“I’ve been doing stairs for a few years now. I’ve got it covered.”

Noah grinned and then used their joined hands to pull her in and kiss her lightly. “Ulterior motives. Makes it easier to do this.”

The second kiss was deep, slow, and sexy.

Jenna's toes tingled in her boots, and she sighed into his mouth.

When they pulled back, his smile was pure sex. If Lil captured that look with her camera, Jenna was sure the photo could sell anything.

No woman could resist.

“You ready to do me a favor?”

Yes. No. Maybe. Yes.

Noah laughed and squeezed her hand. “Not that. Not yet. This one involves my house.”

Noah tugged her inside and waved his free hand around the empty living space. The room was enormous, with a stone fireplace dominating one end. The mantle was a single piece of thick lumber.

Jenna moved over to run her hand over it. “This is stunning.”

“William told me it was built along with the original house back in the twenties. Different families updated and renovated in lots of ways over the years, but no one has touched the fireplace.”

“A hundred years old? That’s incredible.”

“I’ve never owned a home before. This was the only real home I lived in. I want it to feel like a home, but I don’t have a clue how to make that happen.”

Jenna’s heart broke for Noah.

He continued. “Suzanne always talked about the house being mine one day. She wanted me to do my own thing with it. How the hell am I supposed to know what my thing is? I need your help, Jenna.”

Her heart froze at that. How was she supposed to know about a home? How was she supposed to help?

“Your space is homey and fun.
