Heâd let his body relax over hers and napped. When he opened his lids, âtwas to see Dagmar open hers. He smiled, kissed her lips gently and rolled off her. He kept rolling until he reached the bedside and his feet hit the floor. A ewer and bowl sat on her dresser, and he found a couple of handkerchiefs, wet them and used one to clean his cock and the other to gently wipe the furrow between her sweet blind cheeks. When he was done, he again parted the halves.
No blood, and that was good. Again kneeling between her legs, he licked and kissed the reddened rosette that had given him so much pleasure. âWell, madame?â
She turned her head. âWell, what?â
âWas thatâ¦good for ye?â
âI did not know âtwas the point of that.â
âIt isnae, but âtwould be wondrous had you enjoyed yerself also.â
ââTis good in a way I cannot describe.â She dropped her head and closed her eyes.
He frowned. âYe seem more tired than usual. âTis the afternoon, and yet ye are still abed. âTis quite unusual for ye.â
She smiled. âI thought you were happy to find me in bed.â
âOch, I surely was, butâ¦âtis unusual.â
She sighed. âI went to bed last night later than usual, and did not sleep well. âTis all.â
âNaught is amiss?â
âNay. What could be wrong? I am with you and we are happy together, are we not?â

Lady Caroline was not alone, of course. Proper young ladies did not walk alone in Green Park or anywhere else. They certainly did not allow men to bare their breasts and kiss them in a public place. Or a private one.
With Lady Caroline was her corpulent mother, massive today in brown. She looked like a hill or even a small mountain. A small, shocked mountain. Accompanying them was a gray-looking lady whom Huldra imagined was the chaperone, or pâraps the motherâs paid companion.
Hiding, Huldra turned her face and body into Torquil.
Tor seemed unaffected, even serene. He tucked her breasts back into her bodice, buttoned her spencer and turned. âGood morrow, Lady Caroline, Lady Grantley. Yeâll be pleased, as ye are the first to learn that Komtesse Huldra has agreed to become me wife.â
He bowed, took her hand and left. Belly twisting, Huldra could not bring herself to look at one of the trio to see their reactions, but had heard a couple of gasps followed by whispers, giggles and chatter. The news would surely spread all over London within hours.
On the way back to the cabriolet, he asked her, âMay I assume that my solution to the ladiesâ untimely intrusion is agreeable to you?â
She pulled in a breath through a choked throat, then another. When she had recovered her poise, she said, âYes, but I had hoped that my marriage proposal would be a trifle more romantic.â
Tor stopped and took her gloved hands in his. âHuldra, kylyrra, âtwas merely a matter of time. I didnae ken when yeâd be ready for a proposal. I had been wanting to ask since the moment I met ye.
