Chapter Seven
Teddy could hardly keep track of everything that happened in the coming weeks.
Construction on the little house his father had promised him and Vince had resumed with the building supplies coming back in. The only problem was Theodore now no longer wanted Teddy to be too far away from him should anything drastic happen with Ian.
Vince agreed. Something that shocked Teddy. He knew Vince was hoping and waiting for his own space, uncomfortable with needing to be given a room from his father-in-law, but they had also said it was all only temporary.
Just until things blew over.
It seemed as if things were never going to blow over.
The only good thing about all of this was that James had no longer taken an interest in confronting Teddy in the hallways.
There wasnât much James could do nowadays anyway. Teddy had to admit that he had started it. Teddy had begun harassing and teasing James for a while after coming home, but that got old very quickly.
Teddy didnât always want to be around his brother anymore. He didnât like the reminder of what James had done to him, and no amount of seeing James scrubbing floors or toilets would make it all right.
Maybe James got tired of it as well.
Or perhaps the broken nose heâd walked around with for a few weeks had something to do with it.
Teddy was still unsure of who gave that to his brother.
His father? Or his lover?
Well, both men had made it known that they wouldnât mind making James suffer just a little bit more for what he had done.
It didnât take much of a stretch for Teddy to figure out that it was James who had told Ian about the pregnancy. There was no one else in the house who wouldâve done that to him.
Ian sent his demands. They seemed simple enough, but after everything Ian had forced Teddy to do, even the slightest of commands from him seemed like far too much for his body to handle.
Teddy kept his arms wrapped around his belly at all times. As though his former mate would leap from the shadows and attempt to steal them both away if he did not keep a constant vigilance.
Ian demanded the right to see Teddy face-to-face.
It was meant to be in a public space, and Theodore and Vince could be there for supervision, along with their lawyers, but Teddy didnât care.
âNo. Dad, no, please. Come on. He canât make me do that. Can he?â
Vince curled his arm around Teddy's shoulders, holding him close while they read over Ianâs list of demands.
âNo,â Theodore insisted. âI made sure to ask my lawyer that as soon as possible. He assured me that, for the moment, there is no need for you to be in the same room as Ian. Even with his attempted claim to the child, you hold another dragonâs bite. You are no longer obligated to obey him.â
Teddy shuddered, grateful beyond all measure. Still, the thought of having to see Ian again made his knees weak, and he sank into the nearest chair in his fatherâs office.
