I hit send and think there is no way my heart could thump any harder than right now. I’m proven wrong over and over again when I call for a car, drive down Bunny Boulevard with the same intention as every other girl for once, and walk up the driveway to the impressive house.
I tug my phone out from my coat pocket and fire off a text telling him I’m here. I feel like this must be as nervous as it’s possible to get. Just waiting for him to open that door. To invite me in. To take our clothes off. To feel our bodies wrapped up in each other. To start a new chapter of my life. To leave my V-card behind. It’s all lying on the other side of this door.
“Get in here.” Noah doesn’t give me some intense Mr. Grey type of stare. His smile is inviting, his gaze is soft. I instantly feel about eighty-percent of my jitters ease away. I feel better walking in the house. Something about standing next to him, it settles me.
“Do you want something to eat? Or a drink?” he offers.
“No, I want to go upstairs.” It feels good to say it. It feels better to see Noah’s nostrils flare and his jaw tense. If he’s ever looked at me like that before, I’ve never seen it. And I don’t think it’s a look I could miss.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” I nod.
Noah grabs my hand and leads me up the staircase, we don’t stop until we’re in his room with the door closed. He’s got fresh sheets on the bed. That’s not the only thing different from last night. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I’m pretty sure he cleaned up his room a bit too.
It smells like him in here, it’s a scent that naturally makes me relax. Makes me feel at home. I feel safe to be myself in this space. In fact, I’d never try to be anything but. Noah walks up to me and holds me in his arms for what feels like an eternity of silence. I don’t know if I should talk or keep my mouth shut. This isn’t a ball I know how to get rolling.
“What are you thinking?” I look up at him.
His eyes take their time with me, sliding up my body in a saunter not a sprint, and finally reach mine. “You look fucking hot,” he answers.
I tilt my head to the side, squinting at him for a second. “What were you really thinking? Don’t lie.”
The corner of his mouth lifts into a sexy half smile. “Look, you know me well. I’m not like one of the guys in your books. You don’t wanna know my thoughts.” His eyes twinkle because he loves teasing me about my romance books whenever he can fit it in. For that, I’m not letting him off the hook.
“I do want to know,” I answer.
“Fine, I was thinking about how many times I’ve jerked off thinking about this exact situation.
