Ruslan

We had finished cooking long ago and much to our surprise, we’d been able to get everything ready before 3 a.m.. Reaghan looked exhausted and was spread out in my usual chair with Peridot on his lap. I groaned looking at her plush mouth.

How did I get so fucking lucky?

Part of me had wanted to protest when she’d offered… but then the part of me that was hard and practically jumping out of my pants was thrilled. I had imagined her mouth wrapped around me more times than I’d admit, and never could it have compared to how it really felt. The woman was fucking amazing, and not just because of her mouth.

No. I meant what I said. I fucking loved her, and had for a while. I narrowed my eyes at her left hand again. It was annoying me more and more with every passing hour.

“I talked to the jeweler today,” Oryn drawled quietly. Both of us were sitting at the kitchen island with the remnants of the bottle left.

“And?” I asked. We’d had a ring on hold for some time now, but now that we actually needed it, I felt nervous that it wasn’t good enough.

“It’s perfect,” Oryn nodded. “It’s also ready for pick-up tomorrow.”

Oh.

I swallowed as he let out a strained chuckle. “Yeah, I know. Fucking scary, man.”

She would say yes, right? I mean…fuck, this was scary.

We watched as she scowled in her sleep and curled further into Reaghan, the man adjusting his hold and burying his head in her neck. I knew he liked sleeping next to her. He needed it more than even the two of us. They’d been practically living together since high school.

“What are we going to do about the stalker?” Oryn’s words brought the image of those damn pictures to the forefront of my mind. Damn. This was the only thing we really didn’t have a plan to deal with. It had come out of left field.

“The wards have been reinforced,” I frowned, “We just need to make sure one of us is always with her. At least until we find the fucking guy doing this.”

“How do you know it’s a guy?” Oryn arched an eyebrow.

I offered him a dry look that had him chuckling. “Human, too.”

“Yes, I could smell that,” He offered a frustrated expression.

“Let’s just get through tomorrow,” I said and stood up. Peridot’s eyes flickered open as she looked around with some level of sleepy confusion.

“Come on, Flower,” I helped her up as Oryn woke Reaghan. “Let’s go get some sleep.”

Her room had been cleaned up and the doors locked but instead I led us towards Oryn’s room, which had the second largest bed. Reaghan, the overworked bastard, collapsed on the bed as Peri crawled in next to him. I tugged off my shirt as Oryn wrapped his arms around her hips and rested his face against her small stomach. With a tired exhale, I slipped into bed and let the silence of our house crash over me.

Despite the stalker, today had been fucking perfect.
