The Fox watched as the female stopped in the snow. Tendrils of new cords stretched between her and other humans of the town, mixed among old cords, stretched but strong. The strongest was the one that shone like starlight. One of The Fox’s own cords shone with that same light, the cord that connected her to The Woman. Death was not powerful enough to sever a cord, perhaps because though death could transform, it could not truly end. Life went on in ever changing forms, from cloud to water, sun to tree, rot to growth.

One of the female’s new cords bound her to a male The Fox often visited, enjoying the hundreds and hundreds of cords that emanated from him. This new one gave a light that pleased The Fox’s senses, giving her another reason to return to the man.
