In his own cabin, Jet was a mess. Pacing from one end to the other, he rubbed his chest and debated with himself. He was hard, horny and felt like a fool. He wasn’t sure if he’d been had by that mere slip of a girl or if he was letting a miracle slip through his fingertips. He’d felt off-balance from the moment he’d seen Sami in the bar, been attracted to her, then realized she was off-limits.
Only she wasn’t.
He remembered jumping to her defense, he remembered her coming to his rescue—all ninety pounds of her. The memory had him smiling.
As he lay down, trying to relax, every moment they’d spent together came back to haunt him. How she’d caught his eye serving him drinks, how she’d taken care of the rounds at their table and braved the dangerous crowd to come to his fight. How she’d put herself in danger taking on Santoro with a magnum of wine. Now, here—seeing her curled up in one of his bunks, making him a sandwich, tying knots with those graceful small hands, even battling the storm with him shoulder to shoulder—all of it came together in one arousing montage of confusion.
When he’d seen her playing in the waves, her beautiful body fulfilling every desire of his heart, he’d been so damn relieved she was female he didn’t know what to do. And the kiss they’d shared had been amazing! Hot. Completely satisfying. Even when she’d been angry and was telling him off—what had she said? That she’d followed his career, fantasized about him, she even called him her hero. Sami had wanted him, desired him—there wasn’t a doubt in Jet’s mind.
And he’d pushed her away because he was afraid he was enjoying it too much? Yes, he had rules. But rules were meant to be broken. No one said this thing had to last forever. What was important was today. Now.
Jet smiled. Well, there was one thing about it. Nemo Foster hadn’t raised a fool. Rising from his bunk, he grabbed a pair of shorts, pulled them on, then strode out of his cabin and down the hall to hers.
Sami way lying in her bed with the pillow over her head. The tap on the door made her jump. God, no. He’d come to fuss at her some more. Rolling over, she peeked out from under the pillow. He was so big, he filled the entire door. “Go away.”
“I’m sorry, I can’t do that.”
With a groan, Sami sat up, holding the sheet over her breasts. She hadn’t taken time to throw on a shirt, all she’d wanted to do was get under the covers and pray an iceberg hit the Sirena so she didn’t have to face Jet again. But there weren’t that many icebergs in tropical waters. “What do you want?”
“You.”
“No, you don’t.” Sami pulled her knees up to her chest. “You hate me.” She wound her fingers through her hair. “I was telling you the truth, men were chasing me.
