I didn’t see that coming, why does that keep happening

How do I explain my sister, what happened and what is about to go down? Well let’s see there are so many moving parts I don’t know where to start. I guess we can do this in a few different parts, I’ll start with the wedding planning when Leighton and I were trying to put our wedding together the topic came up on my sister.

“So where are we with your sister? Is she going to come to the wedding if we invite her?”

“I honestly don’t know, the other thing is, I don’t even know where to send the invite these days. Last I heard she was somewhere in Europe doing research.”

“Really, wasn’t she on the east coast somewhere last time? When did she end up overseas? I can never keep tabs on Terra these days.” No one can, that’s kind of the point.

After her run in with cancer, Terra didn’t take it too well. She was determined to ensure that she would stay in remission and if for some stroke she didn’t that she would have done one of two different things. Found a way to kill it the second time around or make a big enough impact in the cancer community and the research that she wouldn’t feel her time was wasted. From the time she was diagnosed until the time she finally was in remission Terra was on a mission, she completed her schooling, MCATs and her requirements to become a practicing physician. Then she decided to go into research, she made sure and kept clinical hours to keep on it, worked at an ER a few nights a week, but spent most of her time doing research, she devoted her time into her work.

I feel like she got her sense of service, her sense of being a part of something bigger than herself from dad. After watching me leave to go on and chase a dream she tried hard to fight for hers, even if it changed over time. Eventually she became a machine, driven and cold, which is what led to a lot of the issues that we have today. She would tell us that we don’t understand what it’s like, what she’s doing is more important than anything we can ever imagine. Her and my dad still talk a little bit as well as Chris, which I’ll get to in a minute.

Her research has taken her all over the United States but has pushed her to outside of the US because of the limited laws or less restrictive rules they put on research facilities in different countries. One of the leading facilities in Europe and the world is in France, last I heard that is where she is currently working, but I haven’t heard from her in almost a year.

“When’s the last time you reached out to her Travis? I mean really tried reaching out to her, with a call or text?” Assuming her number even works anymore.
