The light once again appeared in the central rune of the stone. A bright flash nearly blinded me; a boy of seven or eight stood before me. He appeared much the same as he had when he had stuck his face out of his grave; golden-haired, rather thin, and silhouetted by an intense purple halo that emanated from his corpse-white skin.

He walked right past me towards Galt, who I noticed only then, standing directly behind me. Galt did not seem to move or react in any way, and in fact barely seemed to move or breathe at all. The boy stopped his progress when he reached me, then bent down to whisper something in the girl's ear. She giggled and nodded enthusiastically. The boy then reached down and spread some sort of paste across the girl's mouth, a sandy-yellow substance that instantly melted into the girl's tiny lips.
