BLUE HAWAII RESTAURANT

Dayton, Ohio

The Blue Hawaii Restaurant was owned by the House of Linn and Lu from Formosa. They owned about twelve restaurants, each run separately by different family members. Frank Linn, who was already operating a restaurant in Indianapolis, was persuaded to open a Polynesian restaurant in Dayton by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base employees, who praised the virtues of the area. The place was authentic in décor and had seating for 120 people.

SAFARI CLUB

205 Ludlow, Dayton, Ohio

The “swinging” Safari Club in Dayton was, by all accounts, a go-go bar—a place to swing with the swingers. Music was provided by Souls Inc and other various musical and comedy acts. The club’s burlesque dancers included Candy, Pinky and their very own Safari Club dancers. The club advertised as having a tropical atmosphere, but if this just meant that there was a bamboo pole on the main stage, no one would be surprised.
