Chapter Six

THE NEXT day should have been somewhat awkward. At least that’s what Tim thought he should expect after spending such an intimate night with a good friend. It should have meant avoiding Scott, tied tongues, and uncomfortable nervousness. But it was none of those things. It was relaxed and easy. Waking in Scott’s arms had been perfect. Tim couldn’t remember the last time he’d been so content. Sure, he’d woken with Scott’s erection pressed into his butt crack and Scott’s hand wrapped around his morning wood, so that had been a bonus. But it was more than that; it was more than sex. It was a feeling of being complete and, most importantly, knowing he was exactly where he was supposed to be.

They’d fooled around in the hotel room until checkout time, neither of them having any interest in breakfast. They’d met up with the others in the foyer at ten and by then the desire for coffee had kicked in, so they’d made a quick stop for caffeine before they all piled into their cars for the trip back to the Point. Once home they’d gone their separate ways, and Tim had spent the rest of Sunday afternoon daydreaming as he completed his weekend chores. Not even a full basket of dirty laundry could dampen his spirits. Now it was Monday, and the awkwardness still showed no signs of kicking in.

Tim looked at Scott over his plate of eggs and steaming cup of coffee. Meeting at Coffee & Sunshine, what a perfect way to start the day. Coffee and Scott, not necessarily in that order, is the best combination. The thought brought a smile to Tim’s face, and he grinned at Scott, who responded with a smile of his own.

“How are you going to make the most of your day off?” Scott asked before picking up his knife and buttering a slice of toast.

“I got all the boring chores out of the way yesterday. I’m thinking of visiting the markets and maybe getting some fresh fish. There are a couple of recipes I’ve been meaning to try out,” Tim answered, and got started on finishing his scrambled eggs.

“Don’t you get sick of cooking when you’re not at Poppy’s? I’d have thought you’d want a break.”

Tim swallowed the last mouthful and washed it down with a gulp of orange juice before answering. “Sort of. I get sick of making ordinary meals. Cooking dinner each night, being the one to always man the barbecue, that type of thing. But I love to experiment and play with new recipes and ingredients. Keep things fresh and mix it up a bit. You know?”

“Which is why you’re in the kitchen, and I’m in the office. Creativity and cooking aren’t my forte.”

“And dealing with clients isn’t mine, so I guess we’re in the right roles, then,” Tim replied.

Scott groaned. “Speaking of clients, I’ve got a wedding to discuss this morning.” Scott looked at his watch. “In about half an hour, so I can’t hang around much longer.
