She said “I was on my way home to rest for awhile. Why?”

Then I said “I’d love to have you for company. We can get to know each other better.” I asked her had she come across any of my material. She told me “Not yet. But your name does sound familiar. Are you a singer?”

I said “Not exactly. A few years ago I dropped a rap album. Now I’m doing books and poetry CDs. My field specializes in larger women.”

She said “For real? I think I have heard of you. Davon…Davon…Davon Montgomery?”

I said “Yes. That’s me.”

This is what she said next. “Wow. You’re still in your hometown I see. I have a cousin that went to school with you.”

I said “Oh really? What’s their name?”

She said “Johnny. They called him Johnny Boy.”

I said “I know who you’re talking about. We were cool. How is he doing?”

She said “Fine. Married with kids. I will sure tell him I saw you. I think your offer is nice now that I think about it. I’m already starting to feel better.”

I said “Well you can tell me all about it. Just follow me. I’m going straight home.”
