The Pilot Program

January 1, 2016 Morris, Passaic and Camden Counties start “Pilot Program” for New Jersey Bail Reform.

April 22, 2016 New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts asked for more judges, or Bail Reform, “Will Fail”.

April 28th 2016 Kentucky’s “model” of Bail Reform increases overcrowding, due to fewer pre-trial releases.

June 21st 2016 Paramus, New Jersey. Man released ROR on aggravated assault and weapon charges.

July 5th 2016 Governor Chris Christie asks New Jersey Attorney General to do “Cost Study on Bail Reform”. How much will reform cost?

July 7th 2016 Cost estimate for pilot programs $5,810,944.00

July 8th 2016 Morris County Court starts opening on Saturdays. Morris County expects Bail Reform to cost an additional five million dollars in their county, alone.

July 20th 2016 Elmwood Park man arrested for burglary charges. He was let out six days prior, on another offense.

July 26th 2016 Teterboro, NJ. Repeat ex-con busted for second time, theft.

Sept 14 2016 Wayne, NJ. Suspect released. Rearrested 5 minutes later.

October 21st 2016 Camden, NJ. Man arrested for child pornography, immediately released.

October 26th 2016 State of New Mexico. Car thieves caught on camera, laughed about getting stopped, taunting, “we’ll be back out within 24 hours”.

December 7th 2016 New Jersey State Supreme Court raises all court filing fees to pay for Bail Reform.

November 8th 2016 Hackensack, NJ. Man arrested for child abuse, immediately released on a summons.

November 16th 2016 Point Pleasant, NJ. Man arrested and released, 3 times in 5 days.

November 19th 2016 Hackensack, NJ. Man arrested for child pornography, released on a summons.

November 29th 2016 Trenton, NJ. State asking for twenty more judges.

December 5th 2016 Monmouth County, NJ. Freeholders object to an Unfunded State Mandate (not enough money for Bail Reform).

December 8th 2016 New Jersey Attorney General states that he has no idea how much bail reform will cost.

January 1st 2017 First official day of Bail Reform

“The day that criminals won and victims lost”

January 1st 2017 Mays Landing, NJ. Atlantic County man sexually assaulted a 7 year old, immediately released.

January 2nd 2017 Hackensack, NJ. A man stole a flatbed tow truck. He went on a high speed chase into New York and crashing into 3 police cruisers, injuring 2 police officers. This same defendant, just days before, was released ROR from Bergen County Jail on burglary charges.

January 3rd 2017 Jersey City, NJ. A man was arrested and immediately released, ROR, for a New Year’s Day assault with a pipe.

January 5th 2017 Alpine, NJ. Two New York men were released ROR, on handgun and drug possession charges.

January 5th 2017 Jersey City, NJ. A man arrested. He held a box cutter to a victim’s throat, immediately released.

January 6th 2017 Chatham Township, NJ. Man arrested for vehicular homicide, released ROR.

January 9th 2017 Hackensack, NJ. Man released, ROR, for possession of $450, 000 worth of drugs.

January 12th 2017 Atlantic County, NJ. Announcement made: “Bail Reform will cost the county $800,000 this year”.

January 13th 2017 Jersey City, NJ.
