MENDAKI continues to seek innovative ways of engaging and supporting the community as part of its mission to navigate, empower and position the community at the forefront of excellence. In keeping abreast of the diverse pathways available, and recognising the talent and potential among the young, MENDAKI has introduced new awards to encourage and celebrate these talents. The Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award was introduced in 2005 to award youths with potential to excel in non-academic fields. Since its introduction, it has awarded a total of 55 young talents as diverse as sportsmen, film makers, shoe designers, graffiti artists to musicians. Other awards such as the Special Achievement (Non-Academic) Awards were also introduced to give recognition and moral support to talented school students.
