Over the next couple of days, Laure and Rose didn’t leave her hotel room. Laure knew that eventually things would have to end, but she didn’t want to think about that just yet. She wanted to spend as much time with Rose as she possibly could. She wished she could do something nice for Rose. They spent all their time in Rose’s hotel room, usually naked. The fucked, they talked, they laughed, they ordered room service and they slept tangled up in one another, Laure lost herself in the sweet mingling scents of Rose and their sex. Laure was amazed at how compatible their bodies were with each other, at how easy and comfortably they fitted together, and at how languidly passionate the sex was. It was easy for them to pleasure each other, it was easy for them to enjoy each other. Laure was pleasantly surprised that Rose came with none of the body hang-ups and sexual guardedness that she had found in previous lovers. Rose was warm, welcoming, open and capable as a lover and to Laure it was a delight. Rose brought things out in Laure sexually that she hadn’t even known existed.

One night, after both of them were still glowing from multiple orgasms, Laure had an idea. She asked, “Rose? Would you like to go out somewhere with me?”

Surprised, Rose asked, “You mean on a date?”

Feeling a bit guilty that she had never even taken Rose out before they started their sexual adventure, Laure replied, “I guess you could call it a date. Normally, I would take you out on a date before all the sex, but, well, when you opened the door in only your towel, I just couldn’t help myself. There is supposed to be a picnic movie night in the park tomorrow night, and I thought maybe it would be nice to take you there.”

Rose sat up next to Laure in the bed, her earlier smile now gone. “I don’t know if that is a good idea,” she said.

“We don’t have to go; I just thought it would be a nice change of scenery. Is it that you don’t want to be seen in public with me?” Laure asked. She knew that it was complicated for someone like Rose. That everywhere she went, she would be recognized, photographed and talked about. Whoever she was with would be speculated about. She knew all of this but she was still hurt that Rose might be ashamed of her.

Quick to reply, Rose said, “No! It’s not that I don’t want to be seen in public with you.” She took a deep breath and continued, “Laure, I don’t want to be seen in public. Not at all.”

Her big brown eyes were scared and vulnerable.

“I wish I wasn’t Rose DeLuca.”

Laure took Rose’s hands in hers. It started to make sense now. Rose was really struggling with the price of fame.

Rose continued, “Since I met you that first day in the hospital, I have never felt so safe and happy.
