“You look thirsty.” James offered Will his beer.

Will pushed the bottle away. “I think I’m done drinking for the night.”

James nodded and handed Will a glass of water instead. “I know I shouldn’t be surprised, since you’re basically good at everything you do, but you’re a really good dancer.”

Will rolled his eyes. He wished he could have this. He wished he deserved it. But he couldn’t. And he didn’t. He’d made his bed a long time ago, and it was a single bed.

Will slumped into the black sofa and looked around for Miles. He spotted his broad back and curly hair across the VIP balcony. He couldn’t see the guy hidden beneath him, but he was sure he was there.

James sat down beside Will. “You hungry? They’ve got tapas here.”

Will closed his eyes and wished he was sitting in a dive bar in rural Vermont with his forehead pressed against James’s. “I’m okay.”

James set his beer down. “Come on, let’s go home. You’ve done your duty for the night.”

Will opened his eyes. “I can’t. Miles and Tiffany are having a good time, and—”

“Good, I wasn’t gonna invite them.” James winked, and Will’s skin started to burn.

“Why? Are you not having a good time?”

James stood. “Wait here. I’ll go make our excuses. The hotel’s not far. The limo can drive us home and be back in plenty of time to pick up the others.”
