Mum wrote today to ask for pictures of Heather. She says she’s ready for them. They are all that she has of her now and she would like them with her. She wants the first photo taken of her at school, where she’s wearing a short-sleeved blouse and a navy pinafore. She also wants one of Heather as a teenager. One of the last photos of her alive. It’s upset me a little bit; because she was so mean to Heather in those last few weeks, and yet Mum is begging for sympathy here – now she’s ready for them. As if she couldn’t have faced it before.
