LEIGH-ANNE: It was wicked knowing we were doing something for such a good cause. It was amazing going to the hospice and seeing all of the children. I’m a very emotional person, so I was in tears at times, but it felt incredible to know that we were in a position where we could genuinely help.

JADE: It was just such a lovely thing to be able to do. We had loads of fake snow and it was the first time we met JLS and One Direction. The single went to number one as well, which was incredible. We hope it raised loads and loads of money.

JESY: Tulisa said that she wanted us to push things even more in Week 5. She wanted us to take things a step further and blow everyone out of the water. She knows what she’s talking about and we trusted her every step of the way – and we loved what she suggested for us.

JADE: The theme was Dancefloor Fillers, and we sang Rihanna’s ‘Please Don’t Stop the Music’ mashed up with Michael Jackson’s ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something’. We wore these mad metallic outfits and had jewels on our faces.

JESY: Louis said he loved everything about our performance and that we were going to be in the show for a long time, and Kelly said she believed in us but she wanted us to do something a cappella.

PERRIE: Gary said he loved the fact we’d raided Johnny Robinson’s wardrobe, which I thought was dead funny.

LEIGH-ANNE: The Sunday elimination was scarier than any other week because it was a double elimination. We were really worried, but we prayed that people would pick up the phone and vote for us.

JESY: When we found out we’d got through and The Risk were going home we were gobsmacked. We never thought we would be the last band standing.

LEIGH-ANNE: Losing The Risk that week was awful. Tulisa looked so sad, bless her. The groups were so close and we’d all made the journey together. Ashford and I were even in the same group at Bootcamp, and then he left the competition with Nu Vibe – and now he was gone again. I couldn’t stop crying. I knew how much he wanted it and deserved it, and I felt so guilty that I was still in the show and he wasn’t.

JESY: I missed Ashford the most too. He was always the one who was up early cracking jokes, and he was so lovely to be around.

PERRIE: We were so stunned when their name was called. Everyone was. We were in tears backstage and it proved beyond doubt that no one in the competition was safe, because we thought they would be there right until the final week. Now we were Tulisa’s last remaining act and we could not let her down.

JESY: After The Risk went out, the house started to feel really empty and different from the place that we’d been living in. We felt like we were rattling around a bit.
