Making Plans

Once back in Blairgowie, me and Dion spent the rest of the week having fun, we did a few little jobs for Shai, just driving jobs but we spent most of the time drinking and having fun.

I was also pondering on what I was doing out here and where it was all leading, I was getting deeper and deeper into the Johannesburg underworld and getting involved in some serious work, lady Jan had been on the phone a couple of times asking me to come to work at the warehouse but I was now too embedded into the schemes of Shai and Dion to spend time with Jan. Shai was also opening up to me and telling things I really didn’t want to know. Shai was a born con man, like so many other south Africans at that time, he just lived to fuck people over.

Shai is dead now, I found out a couple of years ago but he wasn’t that old so I don’t think it was from natural causes.

When I think back now I can see that life was cheap in Jo’Burg and people like Shai and Dion lived their lives almost knowing that they would not live a long life. They had a strange outlook on life which was to cram as much in as quick as you can and don’t give a fuck. Shai was crazy, he just didn’t care who he ripped off, he lived like he had a death wish.

One time in Africa I got involved with some very infamous English mercenaries and I was the middle man for a deal between them and people connected to the ANC, it was a big deal worth a lot of money and then I found out the mercenaries were working with or for the American CIA. I went straight to Shai and told him what I knew, I was worried about my safety as the meeting was set for Soweto, a place I hated going to. Introducing Shai and his associates to the CIA was a problem, especially if they thought I knew they were CIA. That day when I went to Soweto, I was genuinely worried that I would never return. It was a strange place for Shai to ask me to meet him as I knew that many people who go to Soweto never come out. When I told Shai the news he just smiled and said to me,

“I know who they are, do you not think we have ways to find out.”

I was relieved and I also said we should scrap the deal and walk away but Shai wasn’t hearing it, he was now wanting to rip the people off, that how fearless or stupid he was, he was going to rip the CIA and mercenaries off.

now I’m involved up to my neck, if he rips them off then I’m the link and I’m the man they will come for. Luckily the deal never happened anyway, the mercenary who was once a Major got involved in a big trial in the UK.
