The animals settled into their starting positions.

Sammy yelled.

The animals arched their backs, primed to storm out of the blocks.

The track was a blur as all the animals got off to a LIGHTNING start …

Well, all the animals except Timmy.

But the crowd’s excitement turned to when the runners ground to a halt just before the finish line.

They didn’t want to finish first for fear of being CURSED!

The crowd CHEERED, trying to encourage the competitors over the finish line.

But the athletes remained perfectly STILL, waiting for another animal to cross the line first so they could come second and not be cursed.
