A day of activity today as we all pack our ABC barrels. A large group are heading up tomorrow, with a smaller group (including Whetu, Mark and Jen, Bob and some sherpas) going on Saturday.

15 April

Time to say goodbye to the first wave of the team as they head out on the journey to ABC. It’s quite exciting, but there’s also a bit of fear on a few faces. From the climbing team, those who leave today include Max, Terry, Woody, Shaun, Cowboy (who sticks like glue to Woody — I hope my legs don’t break!) and Big Tim. Tim thinks he might need several days to do this, so he was asked to wait and travel up the next day so he wouldn’t be taking up a needed bed the next night, but as we are finding out, Big Tim likes to have things his way. From the film crew, there’s Graham, Colin, Barney and Ed.

I try to update the HIMEX website but Woody has kindly nuked two PCs trying to download images to email home. Needless to say, Big Boss was less than pleased and keen to see the back of him. We, meanwhile, have been left with a somewhat touchy Big Boss! Thanks, Woody!
