2: With a broad-tipped marker, roughly fill in the dark fur areas with strokes that follow the natural direction of the fur.

3: As you work on the dark fur areas, do not fill them in solid black. Random white spots in the direction of the fur will look like highlights, giving a more realistic fur feel than a solid black would give.

4: Switch to a medium-tipped pen and add a layer of fur lines along the edges of the black areas to soften the transition from the black to the white areas. Make sure to still leave some areas mostly white at this stage.
