It wasn’t a neighborhood I recognized I drove through. My GPS noted my destination wasn’t far. I peered around until I passed an apartment complex and in the middle of a residential neighborhood was a bar.

It was one o’clock in the morning and after nearly three hours on the road I’d arrived at the Fresno, California bar my sister asked me to meet her at. I hadn’t seen or spoken to Harriet since my first night visiting Vixen’s Den and I really hoped she actually showed up to meet me this time. I wasn’t down for another biker interrogation.

While William was in the shower, I texted with Harriet who asked me to meet her. She had some explaining to do after ditching me over a week ago.

Locking my car, I could hear the loud chatter and music from where I stood. There were bikes parked all around along with a few cars. This place was definitely the spot to be at tonight. Approaching the door was reminiscent of my first time at Vixen’s Den. I was nervous and excited, but I did have a better idea of what to expect.

I stepped inside, my legs shaking under me. The place was packed with mostly women who were all donning leather vests with the recognizable logo and Lady Guardians written in pink script on the back. Instantly, I smile came to my face and suddenly over the loud music I heard my name. Peering up, I spotted my big sister waving at me from near the bar.

Weaving through the women, I reached my big sister who looked hot as ever in her biker gear. Harriet also wore a Lady Guardians patch vest along with tight jeans, and a white tank top that also displayed the Lady Guardians’ logo.

“I’m so glad you made it,” Harriet yelled over the noise before she threw her arms around me in a hug. I was always happy to be around my big sister. She’d been my savior so many times growing up when our own mother seemed to turn her back on us, and it felt like all we had was each other. “Do you want a drink?”

“Yeah, vodka with a twist of lime,” I noted to my big sister to nodded and turned to the bar where a female bartender was working away.

“Hey Stix, I need a vodka straight up with lime for my lil’ sis!” Harriet called to the tall blonde who nodded in response.

“So, this is another Lady Guardians chapter?” I asked as Harriet took a sip of her Bud Lite.

“Yeah, the Fresno chapter. Love these ladies. They invited us from the LA-Hollywood chapter up for the inauguration of their new bar since we donated most of the money after their old place caught fire last spring,” Harriet explained.

“A fire? Wow,” I commented.

“Yeah, some bitch ass dudes from a one percent torched the place. Always giving the Lady Guardians flack, but we got the last laugh. Everyone involved is in jail. We have the law on our side.
