JOYCE BOGART: The Century Plaza Casablanca party was the biggest party the town had seen. It was to introduce the record company, not the band, which was secondary, really. It was extremely successful on every level, except for the reaction to KISS. It was a theme party with look-alikes from the movie and tout de Hollywood in costumes of the era, but a disaster for the band. Neil had told them to play full throttle, to not hold back. But a hotel ballroom is no place for a rock band with a sound like KISS. Warner Brothers hated them immediately. Of all the guests that night, I think only Alice Cooper got it.
