Chai
Yield 16oz (1 serving)
There is something so soothing about brewing a nice big pot of chai. This recipe is for a single serving, but you can multiply to make a bigger batch for the week. I love the ritual of brewing all these herbs and having the kitchen smell like one big pot of love. Enjoy these warming spices and the healing benefits that come along with it!
INGREDIENTS:
1 inch piece fresh ginger root, with peel
3-4 cardamom pods
3 whole cloves
1/4 tsp whole black peppercorn
1 whole star anise
3 1/2 cups filtered water
2 tsp black or roiibos tea, optional
1/2 cup coconut mylk
1 tsp cold-pressed coconut oil
2 tbsp raw honey
DIRECTIONS:
Put the ginger, cardamom, cloves, peppercorn, star anise, and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low-medium and brew for 20-30 minutes, covered with a lid, brew longer if you'd like a stronger chai. If you'd like to add black or rooibos tea add and let steep for about 3 minutes.
Strain into a blender, add mylk, coconut oil, and raw honey. Blend until frothy, pour into your favorite mug, and enjoy! Also delicious iced.
