An intriguing stippled illustration, ‘Black Paint – Bright Soul’ centres on a highly detailed hand with black paint dripping from the fingers.

The contrast of block tone for the paint with the heavy array of dots making up the shape of the hand gives a stylised composition. Rostislaw has left areas of white space in the paint, to create highlights and add to the realism. You begin to wonder at the meaning behind this piece, with the paint closely resembling blood, and the way the hand is positioned. It’s a picture that provokes wonder and conjures ideas, reflecting the thought processes behind the work.
