I've never looked more forward to a school break in my life. Since becoming a team and forming a relationship, this will be our first time alone without the hassles of the Academy - and Leonard. Plus, after that meeting with the Captain and Levi, I wanted as far away from RHA as possible.

We packed up Asher's SUV last night, and once Alex comes back from stalking his professor for his final grade, we're good to go. A week in seclusion in a cabin on the lake sounds like a dream. Though I did tell my mom at least… I've seen enough scary movies to want someone to know where I am.

"Let's go!" Alex's voice cuts through the silence of our apartment. The rest of us practically run to the door. Grabbing my charger and bag, I stop long enough to slip on my boots and impatiently wait while the others grab their last minute items.

"Shotgun!" I yell as I run out of the door headed toward the parking lot.

"Oh no, you don't!" Alex yells after me, his footsteps echoing through the empty dorm. Not one to lose, I sprint faster rushing through the door before hurdling myself over the landscaping. The shortcut gets me to the vehicle faster and I fling open the door with glee.

“Damnit, Purple!" Alex huffs as he opens the back door, plopping into the seat behind me. The others walk up a few minutes later, filling the empty seats. When Asher jumps in the driver’s seat, he hands me his phone.

"Jun gets to be DJ," he says, throwing me a wink as he starts the car and backs out of the spot.

"We're stopping at a gas station right?" I ask as I scroll through his music selection.

"Of course. That's like road trip law," Alex says as he tries to grab Asher's phone from me. I smack his hand away as I pick the girliest song out of spite. He groans dramatically as the first notes of the pop song plays.

"Don't make me take away song rights, babe," Asher says, looking pained as I dissolve into laughter.

"Alright, alright, you big babies. I'll change it," I mumble, picking our playlist and kicking it on shuffle.

"How long is the drive?" Sterling asks from the third row, looking uncomfortably trapped among all of our duffel bags and bedding.

"An hour and a half if we don't get stuck in traffic or Jun forces us to stop somewhere," Asher jokes, pulling out of the parking lot and heading to the closest gas station. The campus seems dead as we drive through, almost like a real college. Even here, breaks are important. Everyone goes back to their homes on the other side of Fox Hollow, leaving the East side empty as a ghost town. We don't even have to fight for a gas pump when we pull in, and that's a miracle in itself.

"Alright, I'm gonna fill her up. Someone grab me a soda and decent snacks," Asher says, pulling out his wallet and tossing money my way.
